About this place
Currier Springs horse camp lies in an open meadow, an hour west of Paisley.
There are four camping sites, each with a campfire ring and a picnic table beside it.
There is a newer corral with four stalls, built by the Back Country Horsemen. It takes four to eight horses.
Horses drink from the historical trough the Civilian Conservation Corps built.
The Fremont National Recreation Trail starts from here, and it gives miles of backcountry riding.
The trail runs along the top of a fault block rim 2,000 feet high, known as Winter Rim or Winter Ridge. The mountain scenery from up there is exceptional.
Heading west toward Hager Mountain there are views over Summer Lake. It is about a 29 mile ride to Antler Horse Camp.
There is no drinking water. Bring a lot of it.

The roads around this place are not maintained for a regular car. That comes from the US Forest Service, who grade every road by the kind of vehicle it is looked after for. Those records cover the roads nearby. They do not cover the last stretch in to the campsite, and nobody has checked that part. Treat this as a warning. We are not promising what you will find when you get there. If you have driven it, tell us what it was like and we will say so here.
