The places listed here are remote. Many have no drinking water, no toilet, no mobile signal and no one nearby. Roads to them are often unpaved and sometimes impassable. Weather, wildfire, flooding and seasonal closures change conditions without warning.

You are responsible for your own safety and for judging whether you, your vehicle and your equipment are suited to a place before you go. Nothing on this site is a recommendation that any particular site is safe, open, accessible or suitable for you.

Accuracy

Our listings are built from public records published by the agencies that manage this land. Those records are sometimes incomplete, sometimes out of date, and sometimes disagree with each other. We say so on the page when they do.

We make no guarantee that any listing is correct or current. Always check with the agency that manages the land before you travel, particularly regarding fees, permits, fire restrictions and road conditions.

Fees

We list sites that public records show as free to camp at, and sites where those records say nothing about a charge either way. Every listing says which of the two it is, and a listing that is not confirmed free says so plainly. Fees can also be introduced at any time and are outside our control. If you arrive somewhere we list and find a charge, please tell us using the button on the listing.

Limits of our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss, injury, damage or expense arising from your use of this site or from visiting any place listed on it. This site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind.

Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

We link to government pages, mapping services and retailers. We are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their own terms.

Our content

The underlying facts come from public records and are free for anyone to use. The way we have organised, checked, written and presented them is ours. Please do not copy the site wholesale. Quoting a listing with a link back is welcome.
