About this place
A heavily timbered mountain range that rises straight out of the plains around it. The mix of wildlife is unusual, because mountain and prairie species meet here. Many of them are rare elsewhere in eastern Montana.
Bighorn sheep are often on the south side of Saddle Butte and Silver Peak. Winter is the best time to look.

Getting there
From Malta, drive about 40 miles south on US 191. Look for a sign pointing west to Zortman and follow that road about 7 miles, turning off at Camp Creek Campground.
