About this place
Over 6,000 acres of public land on the south face of the Bennett Hills. The prairie slopes gently. Canyons cut into it.
Those canyons hold basalt bluffs, arches, pillars and hoodoos. A hoodoo is a thin spire of rock left standing when the softer rock around it wears away.
Where the canyons are shaded, willows, aspen, cottonwood, serviceberry and chokecherry grow in pockets.
Elk, deer, coyotes, bear, birds of prey and upland game birds all live here.

Getting there
Gooding County, Idaho, inside the Mount Bennett Hills, a rolling belt of foothills. The Sawtooth Mountains stand to the north of them and the Snake River Plain lies to the south.
